Steve Sheehy has been with the South Shore Fire Department for 11 years. Steve was elected to the union board in 2019 where he served as a steward until 2020. In 2021 Steve was elected to be the president of L2939. Steve can be found on A shift at station 9.
The President shall discharge on behalf of this Local such duties as may be imposed upon them by applicable law including the execution and filing of any reports to the Federal or State authorities, and shall cause to be maintained by this Local such records as the law requires to be kept in support of reports filed by it. The President shall serve as the principal executive officer and shall supervise the business and affairs of the Local. The President shall preside over all business meetings, and shall decide all questions of order subject to approval of the Local. Whenever the members of the Local are equally divided on any issue the President shall have the deciding vote. The President shall serve as Chief Negotiator in the collective bargaining sessions and perform such other duties as assigned by the Local. In the event of a vacancy in any position the President shall appoint the steward to the vacancy until a successor can be elected.
Matt Robers has been with the South Shore Fire Department for the past 17 years. Throughout his time with the department, Matt has spent the last 8 years on the L2939 Executive Board. Matt held the position of steward for 4 years and vice president for 4 years. Matt can be found responding to calls from Station 9, A shift.
The Vice President shall assist the President in such a manner as the President may seem necessary. The Vice-President shall in the absence of the President preside at general membership meetings and bargaining sessions. The Vice President shall serve on the negotiation team and shall automatically succeed the Presidency if the President is unable to fulfill his term.
Kevin Swiatczak has been with the South Shore Fire Department for the past 10 years. 8 years ago Kevin was elected and has proudly served Local 2939 as the secretary/treasurer. Kevin can be found responding from station 9 on B shift.
The Secretary shall have custody of all documents, records, books, and papers belonging to this Local, except as may be otherwise provided by this Constitution & By-Laws. The Secretary shall record proceedings of business and bargaining meetings. The Secretary shall maintain accurate records on each member of the Local and all funds of the Local. The Secretary will make all necessary reports to the Local, affiliated organizations, state and federal agencies as may be necessary. The Secretary shall post all notices of meetings as provided by the Constitution & By-Laws and all other duties assigned by said Constitution & By-Laws. The Secretary shall serves as a working member of the negotiating team. The Treasurer shall receive all moneys due the Local and pay all expenses incurred by the Local. The Treasurer shall maintain accurate financial records of all funds of the Local and keep these records open for inspection of the membership. The Treasurer will make all necessary financial reports to the Local, affiliate organizations, state and federal agencies as may be necessary. The Treasurer shall serve as a working member of the negotiating team for collective bargaining.
Riley Powroznik has been with the South Shore Fire Department for 3 years. Before coming to South Shore, Riley was working as a paramedic for the City of San Diego. Riley was elected to the union board in 2025 as a steward. Riley can be found responding to calls out of station 8 on A shift.
Brandon Harms has been with the South Shore Fire Department for 10 years. In 2022, Brandon was elected to the union board to serve as a steward. Station 9 B shift is currently where Brandon is responding out of.
Rudi Betancourt has served the South Shore Fire Department for 10 years. Rudi has been serving the L2939 union board as a steward since 2020. You can find rudi responding from Station 9 C shift.
The Stewards shall serve as an alternate to any of the above mentioned positions. The Steward shall serve as an executive officer as well as a working member of the negotiating team. The steward will act as an assistant to any of the above mentioned positions as well as perform any special functions or duties as assigned by the Local.
The President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Steward will serve as a union representative to its members in the grievance procedure and process and in disciplinary meetings with the Chief and or Division Chief or Battalion Chief upon request by member.
